7 Reasons Why I Ditched Candles
The Truth
As a young child, I remember walking around with my grandmother as she watered & tended to her flowers and plants, some of which actually seemed as tall as me at the time. Later in life, those precious memories sparked my love for plants, flowers, gardening and natural living.
After raising three wonderful children with my husband, our children married and we were blessed with a larger family, 6 grandchildren and some puppies!
Later in life, after caring for both of my parents who had contracted multiple myeloma bone cancer at different times, we all went through some tough times, especially my parents. There are so many people now a days that come down with cancer, and we wonder why. The Cancer Society states that only 10-15% of cancers are inherited and multiple myeloma bone cancer is not one of those.
I feel like my parents had contracted the cancer due to some type of chemical or toxin exposure. Unfortunately, I lost both my parents to cancer, and I wish so much they could have been here longer with us to enjoy life, family and all those grandchildren!
Some years later, I found that many of our household products and products from the stores contain toxins that are very detrimental to our body systems.
Now, since only 10-15% of cancers are inherited, we should be able to lasso in the other percentage that are not, right?
After I was introduced to a new lifestyle of chemical-free, toxin-free products for which I am forever thankful, I felt compelled to make others aware of the way toxins can affect our lives and our children's lives. We all want the best for our family, right?
Today, I can offer you and others an alternative lifestyle where you can switch out your chemical-laden, toxin-laden products for toxin-free products so you can live your very best life and enjoy all those things you love to do!
Here is one example of what I discovered. You know, I loved candles and had a lot in my home! When you think of candles, how does it make you feel? Snuggly? Warm? In fact, I used to be OBSESSED with candles. I had them in every room. Used them daily!
Those feelings you feel when burning candles are usually linked to those smells. The limbic system (the emotional center of your brain) is strongly linked to scent. Scents are connected to memories, good + bad, so when we smell them, it can bring back those same feelings imprinted on our limbic system.

Natural Living
I had heard that “wellness is not the absence of sickness” and that resonated with me. Yes, I wanted my family healthy, but I did not fully understand wellness was more than that. Four years later, there have been many lessons learned, failures that I chose to re-frame into “an opportunity to change”, many wins for our family, and lastly, an awakening of sorts. I have realized that I can control so many things in our daily lives + many things I can’t. But I have been “awakened” to the harmony between those.
And I want to share with you what I have found.
You are worth it, your wellness is worth it.
